Although I primarily take photographs, I don't like to call myself a photographer. I like to think of myself as a creative thinker. Someone who uses creativity to create things, photographs, meals, fun.
Growing up in New England without a TV (my mothers seemingly odd choice) gave me the opportunity to be outdoors quite a lot. I kept myself entertained being active and making things for myself to do. It's this upbringing that caused me to be interested in doing things for myself.
